Position Summary:
The Chief Maintenance Mechanic is accountable for ensuring the optimal functionality of mechanical, instrumentation, and systems-based equipment, adhering to the company's quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose issues, rectify faults, and guarantee the proper functioning of electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation systems to enhance plant performance.
- Plan, organize, and execute maintenance activities to meet service level requirements.
- Oversee daily operations of maintenance personnel, ensuring effective service delivery and efficient use of time.
- Manage contractors, ensuring adherence to company and regulatory standards.
- Facilitate training for maintenance staff in relevant technical skills.
- Maintain accurate records of plant performance and repairs in the computerized maintenance management system.
- Identify and propose solutions for recurring maintenance challenges to optimize treatment processes.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations among all team members.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to prevent malfunctions.
Work Environment:
The role requires working in various weather conditions and exposure to mechanical and electrical systems. Safety equipment such as safety shoes, high-visibility clothing, and protective gear is mandatory in designated areas.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience, technical training, or a combination of both.
Skills and Abilities:
Successful candidates will demonstrate proficiency in environmental and safety compliance, technical maintenance skills, and effective communication. Leadership and supervisory capabilities are essential for directing maintenance teams and ensuring operational efficiency.
Certifications:
RI Certification in Water Treatment (1T) or the ability to obtain it within six months is required, along with a valid driver's license and CDL with necessary endorsements.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves regular communication, mobility around the facility, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds as needed.
