Job Summary

The Anesthesia Technician plays a vital role in maintaining the readiness of anesthesia service areas for use by Anesthesiologists and Anesthetists. This includes all operating rooms in the main OR and Cysto, as well as additional service areas such as OB, Radiology, MRI, pre-op, and PACU facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies in proper working order
  • Ensure proper workflow in anesthesia areas
  • Accountable to the Manager of Anesthesia Support Services and the OR manager
  • Work independently and may act as a preceptor
  • Knowledge of and compliance with infection control, health, and safety policies and procedures
Requirements
  • One year experience as an Anesthesia Technician
  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
  • Basic mathematical skills and knowledge of medical/surgical and anesthetic terminology
  • Ability to work independently with good organizational skills
  • Ability to see well and read in dim light, distinguish colors on anesthesia monitors
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a cooperative manner
  • Manual dexterity to manipulate small equipment and ability to repetitively lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as an Anesthesia Technician
