Anesthesia Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team at Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA. As an Anesthesia Technician, you will play a critical role in providing anesthesia support services throughout the medical center.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and maintain anesthesia equipment in each operating room, including low-level disinfection and calibration of equipment.
- Provide personnel able to perform a full range of duties consistent with their profession, including setting up anesthesia carts and maintaining a standard anesthesia cart.
- Remove all special and reusable equipment after completion of cases and clean equipment and working areas in accordance with Hospital Infection Control policies.
- Set up and start IV lines as directed and supervised by credential practitioners.
- Develop knowledge of equipment, including anesthesia machines, electronic monitoring equipment, and optical diagnostic equipment, to conduct basic quality control and troubleshoot equipment.
- Understand and operate the auto transfusion machine (cell saver) and related equipment in both scheduled and emergent surgical cases.
- Be available to promptly respond to anesthesia supply and equipment requests while surgical cases are ongoing.
- Maintain professional competency and process improvement through active participation in independent study, cross and in-service trainings, seminars, symposiums, grand rounds, and active dialogue/collaboration with colleagues.
- Actively train and collaborate with rotating and new personnel to ensure patient safety in the sharing of new practices and workflow processes.
- Maintain active security clearance in accordance with the MTF's regulation to access computer systems and IT-related software.
- Be able to provide services that require long hours of continuous activity, often working in cramped spaces while other operating equipment is in use, and be able to push and lift heavy anesthesia equipment to and from remote locations in the hospital and assist with the transport of patients.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician or Technologist.
- ASATT certification preferred but not required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Ability to pass a Government background check and obtain a Government security clearance.
- $38.00/hr to $48.00/hr, to be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location.
