Job Title: Paralegal/Legal Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join our team at Heck & Stiffler, Ltd. in Mansfield. As a key member of our law firm, you will provide administrative support to our attorneys and other staff, ensuring the smooth operation of our office.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide administrative support to attorneys and other paralegals/staff, including document preparation, filing, and organization.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, prospects, attorneys, courts, witnesses, and colleagues, both verbally and in writing.
  • Greet visitors, perform initial screening of clients, and create electronic files in our case management system.
  • Conduct documentary research, source and verify important case intelligence, and produce and file various legal documents and correspondence.
  • Preserve and create an updated case record system in our case management system.
  • Answer phone calls, take notes/messages, and redirect calls as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update inventories of contact details.
  • Facilitate the meeting of deadlines by keeping multiple agendas and providing timely reminders.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a legal assistant and/or receptionist is preferred.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and court system.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and ability to work with legal technology (court-filing computer systems, Medicare and Medicaid portals).
  • Working knowledge of litigation case management software systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English and grammatical skills.
  • Outstanding time-management and keyboarding skills.
  • Ability to multitask and be comfortable dealing with a diverse pool of people.
