The Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities is seeking candidates for multiple teaching positions. The focus of the search is on outstanding candidates with teaching expertise in software engineering, object-oriented programming and development, machine learning, data science, introductory programming, theoretical foundations of computer science, and artificial intelligence. However, the department welcomes exceptional applicants with expertise in any area of Computer Science.
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering is fully committed to a diverse faculty and staff because excellence emerges when individuals with different backgrounds and experiences engage. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment.
ResponsibilitiesTeaching - 95%
- Design and lead courses in computer science and engineering.
- Supervise graduate or undergraduate teaching assistants who support the class, if applicable.
- Coordinate course materials, including textbooks, course packets, exams, etc.
- Hold office hours to provide additional support to students.
Miscellaneous - 5%
- Attend applicable departmental meetings.
- Collaborate with colleagues on course material or other educational tasks, as appropriate.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience.
- Record of academic achievement, specifically, documented evidence of quality teaching.
- Preference will be given to applicants whose area of expertise are in theory, software engineering, object-oriented programming and development, machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence, who have at least two years of teaching and course design experience, and who have evidence of teaching excellence.
