Elder Life Specialist - For Coverage Only

Highland Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as an Elder Life Specialist - For Coverage Only. This is a per diem position that requires flexibility and a willingness to work a variable schedule.

Job Summary:

The Elder Life Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Highland Elder Life Program (HELP). This includes screening and enrolling patients into the program, orienting patients and families to the program, and assigning appropriate intervention protocols. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and implementing volunteer assignments for patients, providing coverage for the Daily Visitor Program, Therapeutic Activities Program, and promotion of Feeding Assistance and Early Mobility protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of the Highland Elder Life Program (HELP)
  • Screen and enroll patients into the program
  • Orient patients and families to the program and assign appropriate intervention protocols
  • Develop and oversee implementation of volunteer assignments for patients
  • Provide coverage for the Daily Visitor Program, Therapeutic Activities Program, and promotion of Feeding Assistance and Early Mobility protocols
  • Assist with recruitment, screening, and placement of program volunteers
  • Responsible for training and retention of program volunteers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a human service field such as Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation, Nursing, or another related field
  • Background in geriatric activities/recreation preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and able to multi-task
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collect and manage data
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
