About the Role

Cisco is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Scientist Intern to join our team in the United States. As a Data Scientist Intern, you will play a key role in analyzing complex data sets, developing predictive algorithms, and providing actionable insights to drive business decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis: Acquire, clean, and structure data from various sources, and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Trend Identification: Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Predictive Modeling: Develop, prototype, and test predictive algorithms to forecast future outcomes.
  • Data Quality: Filter and clean data, and review computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
  • Statistical Analysis: Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports.
Requirements
  • Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with data science tools and techniques, including data manipulation (SQL, Hadoop, etc.), programming (R, Python, XML, JavaScript, or ETL) frameworks, and statistical packages (Excel, SPSS, SAS, etc.).
  • Database Management: Knowledge of and experience with database design and development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
  • Communication: Proficient in queries, report writing, and presenting findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work Authorization: Able to legally live and work in the United States without visa support or sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Oracle Experience: Experience with Oracle databases is desirable.
  • Machine Learning: Familiarity with advanced machine learning techniques, neural networks, and deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Time-Series Analysis: Expertise in analyzing time-series data and forecasting.
  • Software Development: Familiarity with software development methodologies.
  • Presentation Skills: Strong presentation and storytelling skills to effectively communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
