Job Summary

As a Health Information Management Analyst II - Compliance and Auditing, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of medical records at the University of Michigan. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medical Record Management: Identify and produce electronic and/or paper medical records for auditors, payers, and regulatory requirements under predetermined timelines.
  • Process Improvement: Participate in unit-specific, department-wide, or UMHS-initiated process improvement efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of medical record management.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Partner with other Revenue Cycle colleagues to ensure complete and timely production of medical records, and coordinate remote record reviews to provide system access and training to remote auditors.
  • Quality Assurance: Certify the accuracy of medical record information for legal certification and identify issues/make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate of Health Information Technology or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience using an electronic health record (e.g., EPIC) and administrative systems.
  • Skills: Attention to detail, electronic health record review, analysis, critical thinking, decision making, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 1 year of experience in producing medical records from an EHR application.
  • Certifications: Certified Revenue Cycle Representative certification through the Healthcare Financial Management Association, or equivalent combination of education, professional certification, and experience.
Work Environment

This is a primarily remote position with a weekly (1 day) onsite rotation to support unit operations. The position requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the department.
