Job Title: Laboratory Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to play a critical role in supporting the integration of robotic automation into our laboratory. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the revolutionisation of laboratory operations and enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and reliability of our forensic services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement automation solutions to optimise laboratory workflows and processes.
  • Collaborate with laboratory users to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Establish partnerships with relevant industries to co-develop and build robotic systems tailored to laboratory needs.
  • Develop and execute validation protocols for the system to ensure they are operating within specification and are robust against errors.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain robotic systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols related to the use of automated systems for casework.
Requirements:
  • Background in industrial design or a physical science related to Physics or Engineering.
  • Previous experience in designing and implementing robotic systems in a laboratory setting is an advantage.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
  • Attention to detail, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and analytical mindset.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently, prioritise tasks, set meaningful objectives, and complete assignments in a timely manner while maintaining a collaborative team spirit.
  • Good communication skills.
What We Offer:

The successful candidate will be offered a 1-year contract at the first instance, with an option to renew annually for a further 2 years.
