Job Description

The Inside Sales Specialist will provide exceptional service to customers and contractors, assisting with project needs. This role will report to our store location.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent service to customers, treating them with courtesy and respect.
  • Product Knowledge: Become well-educated in the product lines available to Gillman Home Center, seeking continued education on changes to available product lines and industry trends.
  • Order Management: Utilize software to create accurate take-offs, estimates, quotes, customer orders, purchase orders, and invoices for new homes, businesses, outbuildings, and additions.
  • Communication: Respond to customer inquiries regarding product selection, placement of orders, requests for prices and quotations, customer concerns, and scheduling of deliveries and installations.
  • Order Fulfillment: Thoroughly explain orders to customers, require their sign-off before placing any purchase orders, and ensure that all product is invoiced before leaving the store.
  • Problem Resolution: Research credits, returns, and late payments as needed, and work with the Sales Manager to resolve any customer complaints, product damage, or other issues.
  • Teamwork: Help out in other departments as necessary, and provide services to customers at point of sale, including running the register, bagging items, and assisting with loading products.
  • Store Operations: Open and close the store as assigned, and ensure a safe working environment by maintaining situational awareness and identifying and reporting any safety issues or concerns to management.
Work Environment:

The ideal candidate will work in a moderate noise level environment, with prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the day. The ideal candidate must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.

Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or GED diploma; or 1-3 years of related experience or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in the building materials/construction industry, 1+ years of customer service experience, and retail experience a plus.
