Preference:
Candidates with dual certification in TESOL, Bilingual Education, or ESL, along with experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English, will be prioritized for all positions within Stamford Public Schools.

Job Description - Science Educator

General Overview:
A proficient Science Educator comprehends developmental stages, exhibits expertise in the subject matter, and assists students in cultivating positive self-perceptions. The Science Educator encourages student independence as learners, accurately evaluates student needs and progress, and designs instructional strategies to meet specified objectives, including those tailored for exceptional learners. This role is fulfilled through effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues, employing suitable methodologies and resources in a conducive environment where time, space, and materials are well-organized for teaching. Additionally, the Science Educator is committed to ongoing professional development and promotes collaborative engagement with parents and the community.

  • Effectively executes instructional plans and utilizes appropriate teaching techniques.

  • Facilitates student independence in learning.
  • Organizes time, space, materials, and equipment efficiently for instruction.
  • Evaluates student needs and progress effectively.
  • Addresses the needs of exceptional learners.
  • Creates a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Meets professional obligations.
  • Encourages and maintains collaborative involvement and support from parents and the community.
Qualifications:
  • A valid Connecticut teaching certificate in Science(s):
    • High School: 030-Biology, 7-12; 031-Chemistry, 7-12; 032-Physics, 7-12; 033-Earth Science, 7-12; 034-General Science, 7-12; as applicable.
    • Middle School: 006 Gr. 4-8 or 230, Biology MS, 231 Chemistry MS, 232 Physics MS, 233 Earth Science MS, 234 General Science MS, 235 Integrated Science MS.
  • Proven excellence in teaching the specified subject area(s) and/or instructional levels.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, educators, and educational support staff.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and commitment to completing tasks successfully.
  • Exceptional communication abilities (both oral and written).
  • Familiarity with and/or capacity to learn and apply various technology tools relevant to this position.
Union:
Stamford Education Association (SEA)

Salary Range:
$50,684 to $123,992, with step placement determined by education and experience as outlined in the SEA Contract.
