Job Title: Phlebotomist II

Job Summary:

The Float Phlebotomist will perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate work areas. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to clearly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections to patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
  • Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperatures.
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Requirements:

  • Phlebotomy experience and knowledge of laboratory procedures.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Work Environment:

The work environment is primarily in a doctor's office, with a large location and the requirement to stand for most of the shift. Specialties include pediatrics. The first week of training is required.
