Northwest Regional Medical Center is seeking a PRN Clinical Laboratory Specialist

As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist at Northwest Regional Medical Center, you will be essential in delivering exceptional care to our patients. The Clinical Laboratory Specialist is expected to foster positive public relations for the department and Northwest Regional Medical Center while ensuring patient and customer confidentiality. Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting both manual and automated routine blood analyses.
  • Preparing specimens for microscopic evaluation.
  • Operating laboratory instruments such as centrifuges, dry bath incubators, and blood bank refrigerators.
  • Utilizing experience and judgment to strategize and achieve objectives.
  • Performing a variety of tasks, with a degree of creativity and independence expected.
  • Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
  • Requires graduation from an accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Technology program and successful completion of a national examination administered by the Board of Registry of the American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Medical Technology, or HEW.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
Education / License / Certification:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science is required.
  • 1-5 years of experience in the field or a related area.
  • ASCP certification is preferred.
Experience / Skills:
  • Ability to meet the sensory requirements of the position.
  • Capable of performing all laboratory tests and related calculations.
  • Participation in the laboratory Quality Assurance Program is expected.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
