Job Overview

The primary responsibilities include pretesting patients, verifying and submitting insurance claims, ensuring accurate pricing, fitting and dispensing eyewear, and driving sales. We are looking for a personable and enthusiastic individual who values service and teamwork.

Our practice is known for its commitment to exceptional customer service. While prior optical experience is not mandatory, candidates should possess at least one year of sales experience, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a passion for learning. Availability on Saturdays is essential, as we operate Monday through Saturday and are closed on Sundays.

Position Type: Full-time

Salary Range: $13.00 to $18.00 per hour


GENERAL FUNCTION:

The fundamental role of the Optical Sales Consultant is to attract and retain patients by providing an outstanding patient experience, fostering patient loyalty, and ensuring high levels of doctor satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enhance store sales by cultivating a retail selling culture through role-playing and effective sales techniques.
  • Build professional relationships with colleagues and doctors.
  • Fill ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions and fit lenses and frames, including:
    • Utilizing optical prescriptions alongside the patient's visual needs.
    • Recommending specific lenses and coatings tailored to patient requirements.
    • Assisting patients in selecting frames and coordinating them with prescriptions.
    • Performing necessary optical measurements.
  • Ensure a positive patient experience through accurate pricing, point-of-sale entry, and realistic delivery time estimates.
  • Guide patients regarding Managed Vision Care.
  • Assist in maintaining effective merchandising in accordance with company standards.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Store Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven ability to sell and take accountability for sales outcomes.
  • Experience in a retail or customer service environment.
  • Capability to present and implement innovative solutions to enhance business growth.
  • Excellent communication skills to meet and exceed patient expectations.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with associates and doctors.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with adaptability and flexibility.
  • Willingness to take calculated risks.
  • Familiarity with personal computers is preferred.


EDUCATION:

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a preference for candidates possessing 1-2 years of experience in a retail setting, ideally with at least one year in optical sales.

The successful candidate must meet the outlined requirements to perform the essential functions of this role effectively.
