We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Director to lead the West County First 5 Center in San Pablo. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in program development, strategic planning, and staff management.


The West County First 5 Center is a vital resource for families with young children ages 0-5 years, providing no-cost activities such as parent/child interactive classes, parent education, developmental screenings, and community resources.

Funded by First 5 Contra Costa and operated by Bay Area Community Resources (BACR), the First 5 Center serves as an early childhood resource for local families and community partners.

The Program Director will be responsible for the overall success of the Center by ensuring quality family strengthening programs and building positive relationships with community members, partners, and program participants.

The Director will oversee management of programs and contracts, staff supervision, budget, and outreach activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans that align with the Center's mission and enhance service delivery.
  • Ensure that the Center's operations meet established standards and procedural criteria, maintaining a high level of service quality.
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and supervision of staff, including Community Resource Specialists, Early Childhood Educators, and support staff.
  • Monitor the quality and fidelity of programs delivered by staff and subcontracted instructors, ensuring consistent and effective service delivery.
  • Establish and monitor Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with community partners to support in-kind programming and collaboration.
  • Document program outcomes and evaluation measures in the database, providing detailed reports to internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Monitor existing grant funding, manage the Center's budget, and provide financial oversight to ensure compliance with internal and contract requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field; or four to ten years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Keen interest in working with the complexities of a family resource center, holding the vision and mission while attending to the granular details needed to maintain programming and operations.
  • Experience with program planning, implementation, evaluation, and community organizing.
  • Experience with budget management.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and ability to adapt as program needs evolve.
  • Ability to balance and strategize concurrent projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including group presentations and group facilitation.
  • Ability to exemplify strong interpersonal skills, work with individuals from varied backgrounds, and support others in navigating through a diverse environment.

Benefits:

  • Annually, $88,000 - $93,000 (DOE)
  • Full-Time, Exempt, may require some evenings and Saturdays.
  • 16 paid BACR holidays
