Robotics Hardware Development Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering Co-op to join our team at Toyota Research Institute (TRI). As a member of our robotics team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that aim to improve the quality of human life.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and assembling robotic systems and test spaces, including structural, electromechanical, and soft-sensing components. You will also maintain regular contact with team members to support their needs and requirements, and help maintain a safe, clean, and effective robotics lab environment.
Additionally, you will be responsible for running, documenting, and clearly communicating testing activities, conditions, and results. Occasional travel may be required, and additional responsibilities may be assigned.
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong understanding of common robot sensors and mechanical components, as well as experience using common rapid prototyping techniques and equipment. Exposure to mechanical CAD software, such as SolidWorks or Onshape, is also a plus.
