Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Technician to join our team at TIER4 GROUP. As a key member of our infrastructure operations team, you will be responsible for the installation, oversight, and maintenance of low voltage, fiber optic, and data center structured cabling, as well as MDF/IDF/SIDF components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation & Oversight: Lead and manage the installation of low voltage, fiber optic, outside plant, and data center structured cabling within our critical environments.
  • Cable Management: Supervise the installation of conduit and cable tray systems, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance, technical leadership, and mentoring to in-house technicians and vendors, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Reporting: Maintain clear and timely communication with Infrastructure leadership, providing updates on project status, potential issues, accomplishments, and resource allocation.
  • Hardware Installation: Install and oversee the setup of essential hardware, including switches, servers, and other rack-mounted equipment.
  • Problem Solving: Apply complex problem analysis and creative thinking to resolve technical issues, using industry-standard tools and techniques.
Service Expectations
  • Service Model: Practice active observation, listening, and proactive engagement to identify and anticipate the needs of guests and team members.
Complexity of Work
  • Nature of Work: Non-routine work that requires applying general policies to frequently changing situations.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • Team Leadership: Daily oversight and supervision of in-house technicians and vendors, ensuring projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.
Qualifications
  • Industry Mastery: In-depth knowledge and applied expertise in telecom and structured cabling, including cable management and fiber distribution standards.
  • Technical Expertise: Polished experience in installing low voltage cabling and terminating on modplug and modjack connectors, along with fiber optic cabling, including quick connect, anaerobic termination, and fusion splicing.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of managing teams of 10 or more, along with vendors, in a high-pressure environment.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. Ability to analyze and solve complex problems efficiently.
  • Communication: Professional business communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Education
  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience in Infrastructure and Data Center Operations.
Certifications
  • Preferred: BICSI certification is a plus. Commscope certification is highly desirable.
Experience
  • Required: 5+ years of experience working in Data Centers, MDF/IDF/SIDF, or other critical environments, with hands-on expertise in installing low voltage, fiber optic, and data center structured cabling, as well as MDF/IDF/SIDF components.
EHS Requirements
  • Safety Training: Participation in Facility Training Programs, including forklift operation, confined space, fall protection, CPR, LOTO, and general tech team safety procedures.
  • PPE Requirements: Compliance with all PPE requirements, including wearing a hard hat, safety vest, and safety glasses.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds with control.
  • Ability to work in varied light conditions and small or confined spaces.
Work Environment
  • Ability to work in wet, humid, outdoor, and extreme temperature conditions.
  • Ability to work in an environment with loud noise and potential hazards.
