Role Summary:

The Principal Solutions Engineer will be an integral part of ShipBob's expanding Revenue team, focusing on comprehending the distinct strategic requirements of our small to medium and mid-market clients. This role is pivotal in delivering value that supports their growth and success. The Principal Solutions Engineer will collaborate with ShipBob's Sales, Implementation, and Success teams to align the merchant's primary business goals and technical needs with a compelling technical solution. Furthermore, this position will execute the solution by working closely with the Product, Engineering, and Implementation teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess merchants' objectives and devise a solution that aligns with their business goals and technical specifications.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of merchants' technical environments and solutions.
  • Create a technical vision and implementation strategy that facilitates a strategic and budget-conscious product rollout for merchants.
  • Oversee the execution of the implementation strategy in partnership with Implementation Specialists.
  • Provide expert guidance during various sales phases, including the completion of RFPs and vendor evaluations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, ShipBob's service offerings, value propositions, and relevant case studies.
  • Establish best practices for Sales Engineering to ensure team scalability through documentation, process enhancement, and cross-training.
  • Keep abreast of the product roadmap and new features to advocate for customers and relay feedback to our product management team.
  • Support and mentor fellow solutions engineers in needs assessment, solution development, and navigating the implementation process.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • 7-9 years of experience in a merchant-facing technical role within SaaS or e-commerce.
  • Proven experience collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey technical concepts to business stakeholders and merchants.
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following areas: e-commerce platforms, order management systems, inventory management, WMS, TMS, supply chain, logistics.
  • Experience with APIs, SQL, or embedded systems, as well as scripting languages (Ruby or Python).
  • High emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills, acting as a bridge between Merchant Success, our merchants, and internal teams.
  • Demonstrated success in managing initiatives and collaborating cross-functionally to achieve objectives in a team setting.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment that demands excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Strong project management capabilities and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Experience with small and medium businesses and/or technology is preferred.
  • Experience in high-growth or early-stage startups is advantageous.
