Job Title: Safety Officer

Suulutaaq is currently seeking an experienced Construction Safety Officer to join our construction management operations for heavy civil projects in the State of Oregon. Our company performs grading, levee repair, demolition, de-watering, and underground utility work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive job site safety program to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and prepare reports to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for employees to enhance their safety knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and craft personnel to promote a culture of safety and health.
  • Monitor and report on safety metrics, including injury and illness rates, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments, regulations, and best practices to ensure our company remains at the forefront of safety and health.
Requirements:
  • 30 Hour OSHA construction industry training.
  • Verifiable experience as a full-time safety representative on large heavy construction projects.
  • Candidates must be able to pass a drug test as part of the selection process.
  • Candidate must consent to a background check.
  • Candidate must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must have clean driving record for the past three years.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to earn Competent Person certification in both Excavation and Confined Spaces.
  • Ability to earn and keep CRP and First Aid Training certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Recent experience on a Federal and State Dept. of Transportation projects.
  • CHST, ASP or CSP certifications.
