Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security and Safety Manager to join our team at The Ritz-Carlton Portland. As a key member of our Loss Prevention and Security department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our guests, employees, and property.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily functions of the department to ensure protection of property assets, employees, and guests.
  • Develop and implement accident and fire prevention procedures, and train staff in established emergency procedures.
  • Conduct hazard and risk assessments at the property, including quarterly OSHA/SAFETY audits, incident tracking, and hazard abatement processes.
  • Develop and maintain detailed "shut down" procedures for the property to ensure all areas are secured at the appropriate times.
  • Comply with applicable laws and safety regulations, and follow proper key control guidelines in loss prevention and property management.
  • Develop a monthly checklist for all CCTV equipment, alarmed doors, and duress alarms to ensure they are fully functional.
  • Incorporate inspections of recording systems into patrols, which encompass all areas of the property's interior and exterior.
  • Follow Duty of Care process for the protection of guests and employees, and follow up on all unusual activities in and around the property that would impair their well-being.
  • Handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts, or negotiate with others.
  • Implement action plans to monitor and control risk, and oversee all loss prevention operations, including patrol processes, emergency response, investigations, shipping and receiving processes, electronic key systems, and manager on-duty responsibilities.
  • Oversee and guide the efforts of the Accident Prevention Committee, and oversee the first aid program for guests and employees.
  • Oversee the claims process and protect company assets by closely monitoring General Liability and Worker's Compensation cases.
  • Communicate the importance of safety procedures, detail procedure codes, ensure employee understanding of safety codes, monitor processes and procedures related to safety, and emphasize teamwork, close working relationships with other departments, and assertive hospitality to serve as a deterrent to crime.
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members, provide personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others, serve as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors, and utilize interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in security/loss prevention or related professional area.
  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Criminal Justice or related major; 2 years experience in security/loss prevention or related professional area.
Benefits
