Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Developmental Services Worker 1 to join our team at the Department of Developmental Services. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and services to individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance and instruction to individuals in activities of daily living, including personal care, hygiene, and social relationships.
  • Participate in therapeutic programs for development of individuals capabilities, including training and education.
  • Implement individual program plans, including goal setting and progress monitoring.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to individuals in development of desirable personal habits, hygiene, and social relationships.
  • Perform housekeeping duties necessary to maintain a clean and healthy environment.
  • Participate in social and recreational activities, including outings and events.
  • Reinforce appropriate individual behavior through modification techniques.
  • May administer selected oral medications with appropriate training.
Requirements
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities or related conditions.
  • Ability to develop a positive relationship with individuals and provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with individuals, families, and other professionals.
  • Ability to lift and restrain individuals, as needed.
  • Valid Connecticut driver's license and ability to obtain a Public Passenger Endorsement.
