Job Overview:

APTIM is seeking a Full Time Civil Engineer to support our Solid Waste Services Group in the Concord, California area. This role will conduct field inspections, compliance monitoring and reporting, and construction quality assurance. The position will be a hybrid role with 3 days in office and 2 days remote.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate geologic and hydrogeologic conditions and provide analyses
  • Perform groundwater, leachate, stormwater and landfill gas sampling and testing
  • Prepare and complete regulatory compliance reports, work plans, and special studies
  • Conduct data entry and statistical analysis
  • Communicate technical concepts, evaluation results, plans, reports, etc. during work team meetings
  • Collaborate with other team members and coordinate with contractors and clients
  • Conduct field inspections and construction quality assurance oversight
Requirements:
  • BS/MS in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or Equivalent Sciences
  • Possession of Geologist in Training (GIT) or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • 2 to 6 years of experience, including experience in compliance reporting
  • Ability to work on multidisciplinary projects and excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and possess a self-starter and problem solver mindset
  • Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and ability to wear proper PPE for work on hazardous waste sites
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with the California State Water Resources Control Board
  • Possession of 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour refresher certificate
  • Knowledge of statistical evaluation methods and landfill / Solid Waste experience
