About the Role

Sedano's is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Meat Department Associate to join our team. As a Meat Department Associate, you will be responsible for ensuring that our meat department is always stocked and presented in a way that meets the high standards of our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Wrap and package cuts of meat and poultry for display in our coolers.
  • Assist with the proper presentation of all meat department products.
  • Check product quality to ensure freshness and rotate products by date to maintain freshness.
  • Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  • Maintain refrigerated cases with appetizing displays of products for sale.
  • Assist customers by answering questions regarding products sold within the department.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Keep work area clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards.
  • Use all equipment in the meat department properly.
  • Maintain all requirements for a sanitary work area to keep food safe from contamination.
  • Report all accidents promptly according to company procedures.
  • Attend and participate in departmental and store meetings.
  • Punctuality and good attendance in compliance with company policies.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Ensure country of origin labels and/or signage is correct for department products.
  • Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  • Assist with customer areas of Meat, Deli, and Seafood when needed.
  • Assist with unloading and/or verifying merchandise off meat delivery trucks when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Current food safety training certificate required and must be renewed every three (3) years.
  • Ability to use department equipment properly to accomplish essential duties of the position.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in both English and Spanish preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to effectively present information and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations with managers, co-workers, and customers.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Takes responsibility for own actions.
  • Ability to work hours and days scheduled, including holidays and weekends.
  • Basic math and numerical skills required including weights, measures, and identifying product codes.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
