Job Summary

The Maintenance Specialist (Mechanic 2) performs critical maintenance tasks on aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls, ensuring the safe operation of aircraft. This role requires strong technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of mechanics and ensure timely completion of workloads.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Repairs and rebuilds aircraft systems, including structure, engine, and avionics, to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Performs 175-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other hourly or calendar inspections to detect and address potential issues.
  • Examines engines for cracked blades and oil leaks, inspects turbine engines and components for cracks, corrosion, foreign object damage, burned areas, distortions, security, warping, wear, and missing segments.
  • Tests engine operation using testing equipment and replaces or repairs worn or damaged components, such as generators, alternators, magnetos, fuel controls, fuel pumps, oil pumps, and engine-mounted gearboxes.
  • Adjusts, repairs, and replaces electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, and miscellaneous duties to include servicing aircraft.
  • Coordinates and participates in the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters maintenance records, and verifies work performed satisfactorily.
  • Manages TD/SE program, examines, investigates, repairs, orders parts, and provides recommendations to the squadron Leadership Chain of Command and Maintenance Control representative.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required qualifications, including CDQAR, PQS, and ordnance qualifications.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, including flexible start and end times based on flight schedules and tasking.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and meet physical requirements associated with the job.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MH60-R experience.
