As an Electrical Maintenance Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing equipment issues stemming from mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures.
  • Executing installation, maintenance, disassembly, repair, overhaul, and reconstruction of electrical, mechanical, and electronic systems.
  • Conducting welding fabrication, carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and electrical repairs or wiring necessary for the construction, installation, and upkeep of structures, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Performing traditional electrical power/wire connections up to 480 volts 3 phase, including conduit bending and troubleshooting.
  • Correctly sizing electrical wiring in accordance with NEC standards for various applications.
  • Inspecting, adjusting, fitting, and modifying components for repair and replacement.
  • Reading and modifying PLC programming.
  • Assessing equipment issues related to mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Examining components such as indicator lights, hand and foot controls, sensing devices, and emergency stop switches.
  • Utilizing a diverse range of hand tools, equipment, and instruments to perform maintenance according to wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, blueprints, manuals, schematics, and other guidelines.
  • Carrying out electronic installation and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Overseeing automated equipment operations, setup, and maintenance.
  • Installing, maintaining, disassembling, repairing, overhauling, and reconstructing machinery.
  • Fabricating components with precision to meet specifications.
  • Ensuring safety devices are operational and properly maintained.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization of equipment and work areas.
  • Documenting information on electronic or paper forms for record-keeping purposes.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Basic microcomputer skills essential for understanding the operation and interfacing characteristics of microprocessors.
  • Familiarity with I/O and interfacing concepts, software interaction, applications, programming languages, and techniques.
  • Experience with PLC operations, including basic system configurations, hardware, data manipulation, data communications, advanced programming commands, interfacing, troubleshooting, application, and program development.
  • Training or experience in electric motor drive technologies, including AC variable frequency, AC servo, DC servo, closed-loop systems, stepper systems, servo-motors, electronic and mechanical clutch/brake systems, and encoders.
  • Knowledge of welding safety, equipment, proper selection of type, wire, settings, and material preparation.
  • Familiarity with flame cutting safety, equipment, and preparation is also advantageous.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • A 2-year degree in electromechanical or electronic technology, or equivalent education, along with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience, or five years of experience in a related field.
  • Proficient in standard troubleshooting practices.
  • Able to reference National Electrical Codes.
  • Capable of reading mechanical blueprints, wiring diagrams, or schematics.
