KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, implement, and maintain analytical models and reports to deliver precise operational and capital expenditure forecasts, including monthly variance analysis.
  • Oversee the coordination and execution of annual expense and capital budgeting processes.
  • Evaluate submissions from various departments for compliance with established guidelines and objectives.
  • Conduct detailed fiscal analyses on diverse issues to support budgetary decisions, providing summarized recommendations to leadership.
  • Address specific requests for financial data and insights regarding current or proposed initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain models to assess significant capital projects.
  • Offer analytical support for operational versus capital investment decisions, aiding the capital investment process.
  • Engage in proposal evaluations and provide recommendations to align with long-term goals, including leading special projects and developing new processes.
  • Guide management on accounting structures and practices.
  • Assist in the compilation, analysis, and interpretation of data to support project planning.
  • Deliver technical training on accounting matters to staff and management, ensuring data validation with accounting systems.
  • Create and maintain reports to meet regulatory standards and fulfill customer inquiries.
  • Support the development of capital project budgets and estimates.
  • Establish and maintain financial controls for gas infrastructure projects, including forecasts and variance analyses.
  • Monitor project expenditures to ensure adherence to schedules and budgets.
  • Utilize cost tracking tools to oversee major project components.
  • Ensure appropriate cost allocations and provide guidance on project unitization upon completion.
  • Generate project reports and scenario analyses for management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide monthly accruals and cash flow forecasts to corporate finance.
  • Facilitate discussions with contractors and internal personnel regarding cost control, analyzing data to identify financial risks and opportunities.
  • Offer financial expertise for invoice approvals, change order requests, and contract negotiations.
  • Coordinate with corporate and operational teams on all financial, contractual, and scheduling aspects of projects.
  • Assist accounting and finance teams with audits and necessary analyses.
  • Serve as a financial subject matter expert.
  • Collaborate with project management and stakeholders to analyze data and mitigate financial risks.
  • Establish and maintain internal control measures to ensure compliance and accurate reporting to project management.


QUALIFICATIONS

For the Financial Operations Analyst role:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience (typically six years of progressive experience is required for candidates without a degree).
  • Three to four years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to interpret financial data and make informed recommendations.
  • Familiarity with information technology systems and major vendors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word, with advanced skills in spreadsheet design.
  • Leadership abilities to guide and instruct team members.
  • Project management skills to lead initiatives with minimal direction.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with diverse organizational levels.

For the Capital Budgeting Specialist role:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience (typically four years of progressive experience is required for candidates without a degree).
  • At least five years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including macros, and familiarity with SAP or Oracle.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial management and project controls.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of capital project contract management and procurement processes.
  • Understanding of the natural gas industry and related facilities.
  • Familiarity with the financial lifecycle of capital projects.
