Spartech, LLC is seeking a Screen Printing Specialist to join our dedicated team in Crawfordsville, IN. This role is primarily a DAY SHIFT position. Our Crawfordsville facility focuses on the extrusion and conversion of flat plastic sheets. These sheets may be enhanced with graphics and then shaped into various products such as license plates, veterinary clinic lamp shades, signage, file folders, and more. We are committed to sustainability by reusing scrap plastic to create eco-friendly products. We provide a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and both short-term and long-term disability coverage available after 30 days of full-time employment. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare screens for the printing presses.
  • Review job specifications to ensure correct setup and materials are available for production.
  • Clean used screens with appropriate emulsion removers.
  • Coat cleaned screens for new artwork.
  • Inspect artwork to select the proper mesh and emulsion for optimal product quality.
  • Stretch and tension screens as required.
  • Determine exposure times and process screens accordingly.
  • Apply tape and block out areas on screens for accurate image reproduction.
  • Verify finished screens against film positives for quality assurance.
  • Maintain and repair screen frames for reuse, including cleaning and replacing clips as necessary.
  • Assist Press Operators with screen repairs as needed.
  • Train and oversee temporary staff assisting with screen preparation.
  • Monitor work center for late materials and log in artwork, ink, and sheets accurately.
  • Document all direct and indirect labor activities with precision.

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in screen printing is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Basic mathematical skills are required.
  • Ability to read and utilize a tape measure and micrometer.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 30 pounds regularly.
  • Proficient in using a hand truck for material movement.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working with inks and cleaning agents.
  • Willingness to wear necessary personal protective equipment including goggles, gloves, safety glasses, bump caps, hearing protection, and safety-toed shoes.

This position reports directly to the Converting Supervisor.
