Job Summary:

As a key member of the Community Safety unit at Barnard College, the Access Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of the campus community. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and control access to designated areas of the campus, verifying the identification and authorization of all individuals requesting entry.
  • Screen all persons attempting to gain access to restricted buildings and notify Community Safety of any unauthorized entry.
  • Obtain and retain valid identification from all visitors to Residence Halls, ensuring that sign-in procedures are followed.
  • Assist in training new Access Attendants and remain current in all access control and Community Safety procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including maintaining records and logs related to authorized access.
Requirements:

•High school graduate or equivalent.

•Ability to speak, write, and read English and to communicate effectively in emergency and non-emergency situations.

•Ability to follow written and oral instructions and to work well under pressure.

•Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED is preferred.

Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The Access Attendant must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Rate: $25.46 per hour
