Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Crisis Intervention Specialist to join our team at UMass Memorial Health Care. As a Crisis Intervention Specialist, you will provide crisis evaluations for patients in psychiatric crisis, utilizing the language of the current DSM V to establish comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and subsequent planning and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychosocial history and mental status assessment of patients in psychiatric crisis
  • Assign the appropriate clinical level of care to each patient, including inpatient, outpatient, and diversion programs
  • Develop and maintain a safe therapeutic environment, actively participating in psychiatric emergencies
  • Triage calls of patients with psychiatric emergencies, determining which intervention is needed and making referrals when necessary
  • Function in a Case Management role, facilitating and coordinating referral and access to psychiatric treatment, delivery of social services, and community-based care
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Human Services or equivalent
  • Must be license eligible upon hire (LICSW, LISW, or LMHC)
  • One to three years of experience in Psychiatry/Mental Health
  • Demonstrated ability in psychosocial assessment, knowledge of community resources, crisis intervention skills, and ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
