About the Cadet Program

The City of Winston-Salem, NC is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to participate in the Cadet Program, a unique opportunity to combine education and law enforcement experience.

Program Overview
  • Participate in a comprehensive program that combines 20 hours of education with 20 hours of employment at the Winston-Salem Police Department.
  • Receive full-time employment with the City of Winston-Salem, NC and have the cost of education covered by the department.
  • Be registered as a full-time Criminal Justice student at an approved community college.
  • Maintain a 3.0 GPA and complete 40 hours a week of education and employment.
  • Pass a background check and initial eligibility testing.
  • Commit to serving as a sworn law enforcement officer with the Winston-Salem Police Department for 3 years.
