The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Director of Emerging Technologies. This role will play a critical part in shaping the City's technology strategy and driving innovation to improve services for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze long-term trends in technology and develop the City's strategy for using emerging technologies to better serve San Francisco's residents, businesses, and visitors.
- Establish and lead emerging technology governance and processes City-wide by conducting analysis, risk assessment, feasibility studies, cost benefit analysis and ensuring alignment with ethical practices.
- Lead a collaborative and consensus-driven creation of policies for using emerging technologies, with a strong emphasis on ethics, equity, security and privacy, transparency, and accountability.
- Represent San Francisco Department of Technology in emerging technology industry standards bodies and government peer and regulatory bodies.
- Partner with Department CIOs and IT Directors to develop technology solutions for improving City operations and services to San Franciscans with the use of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence learning, IoT (Internet of Things), and evaluating data from autonomous vehicles, drones, and other emerging technology tools.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; AND
- Six years of management experience in the information technology (IT) field, all of which must include experience supervising technical and professional IT staff.
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or a closely related field
- Ten years of professional experience in technology and eight years of experience in IT management roles.
The City and County of San Francisco offers a competitive salary range of $187,070 - $238,810 (annually) and a comprehensive benefits package.
