Digital Content Creator

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is seeking a skilled Video Producer to join our team of journalists and deliver high-quality content across various platforms. As a key member of our multimedia team, you will be responsible for executing stories from conception to completion, demonstrating strong editorial judgment, and showcasing a passion for immersive storytelling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and develop story ideas for short-form videos, series, franchises, and documentaries that align with the AJC brand and voice.
- Write creative and accurate digital video scripts that engage our audience.
- Manage shoot logistics and production workflows, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content.
- Collaborate with editors, graphic designers, senior producers, and other stakeholders to integrate post-production processes.
- Produce long-form video content and work with social teams to identify opportunities for cross-platform content optimized for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms.
- Develop and produce evergreen content that ladders up into our overall video strategy.
- Assist in the booking of on-camera characters and show guests.
- Shoot in the field with digital cine cameras, maintaining the AJC visual identity.
- Edit radio cuts and/or final videos.
- Integrate with the newsroom to seek story ideas rich for development on our video platforms.
- Produce and edit quick turn videos for our on-platform strategy.
- Have the ability to use your original voice or other talent's voices to create informative and entertaining content.
- Maintain internal databases and follow workflow systems to ensure all assets are delivered consistently and within deadline constraints.
- Must have a knowledge of fair use practices and the ability to work with legal and rights teams to ensure all media used in videos is properly licensed and cleared.
- Produce stories for sponsored partnerships and revenue-driving initiatives, as directed.
- Work efficiently in a fast-paced news environment while meeting aggressive deadlines.
- Remain organized, communicative, and amenable to change.
- Own assignments from conception to publication, ensuring every pre-production checklist item is completed and confirming the social and video programming teams are equipped with the information they need to publish.
- Expertise in post-production software such as Adobe Premiere or similar technology.
- A portfolio of work showing editorial judgment, technical skills, and creativity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven track record of collaboration with team members and talent.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Ability to manage large projects and work collaboratively to tell a story.
- Experience creating video for digital platforms.
- A passion and excitement for premium content creation and storytelling.
- An ability to remain flexible in changing environments.
- A commitment to journalistically sound practices in all stages of production and publication.
- Proven ability to work closely with standards and legal groups to ensure all projects meet AJC editorial guidelines and practices.
- Must be able to work an extended schedule as deadlines and news cycle require.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- With a BA/BS, must have 4+ years of production, field production, and/or shooting experience. Candidates may have a Master's degree have at least 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. with at least 1 year of experience, while without a degree must have a minimum of 8 years of experience in digital video production.
