Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role is essential for analyzing credit data and conducting thorough investigations related to lending practices to assess the financial stability of prospective borrowers. The Credit Analyst is responsible for preparing detailed spreadsheets, reports, and summaries for the use of loan officers, senior management, and loan committees. Additionally, this position plays a crucial role in assisting with stress testing of the loan portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the core values of Security State Bank & Trust.
  • Request and organize financial documentation from loan officers and administrators in the designated Credit Analysis folder.
  • Utilize a Credit Analysis checklist to monitor and track any missing documents related to specific credits.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly reports required for the Loan Committee.
  • Input all financial data into the Optimist analysis software for assigned credits.
  • Generate comprehensive credit analysis reports and accounting spreads for loan requests.
  • Ensure that the Loan Review department has up-to-date analysis reports for loans scheduled for review.
  • Provide support to loan officers and members of the loan committee as needed.
  • Contribute to training initiatives for new analysts and loan officers within the department.
  • Maintain workflow within the department to ensure all credits are current and track any missing documentation.
  • Employ financial analysis software to evaluate current and potential vendors.
  • Assist in addressing inquiries from loan officers regarding credit analysis methodologies and reports.
  • Support the completion of loan portfolio stress testing.
  • Participate in the review process for potential impairment on TDR loans.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Experience in interpreting commercial and consumer financial statements and tax documents for both corporations and individuals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as Adobe Reader and general office equipment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Willingness to present analysis findings to the Loan Committee and Board.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Credit Analysis is preferred.
  • Experience in tax accounting or preparation under CPA supervision is advantageous.
