Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our team at Yount Hyde & Barbour PC. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for overseeing financial procedures, including reviewing financial reports, tracking budgets, and performing month-end and year-end closures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update accounting records and files.
  • Analyze budgets and create expense reports.
  • Meet with clients to discuss confidential accounting issues.
  • Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger.
  • Analyze transactions and financial statements with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct month-end and year-end closures.
  • Prepare documents for audits.
  • Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Identify ways to improve financial processes.

Personal Participation & Professional Development:

  • Remains current with best practices and trends within the industry. Provides recommendations regarding ways to improve processes.
  • Actively participates in self-development activities and works with circle leaders to develop and monitor appropriate and challenging goals.
  • Demonstrate understanding of departmental goals and responsibilities.
  • Display good analytical and technical skills in completing assignments.
  • Demonstrate initiative to maintain productivity.
  • Respond positively to corrective feedback and suggestions.
  • Provides upward feedback.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of cooperation and teamwork through daily interactions with co-workers by maintaining positive working relationships with other team members and displaying an attitude of helpfulness, a focus on team success, and the consideration of the ideas of others.
  • Knowledge and skills should increase with experience. Willingness to accept increasing levels of responsibility.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in accounting preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Possess an understanding of accounting principles and concepts.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, industry specialization a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity.
  • General knowledge and understanding of full-cycle accounting processes and payroll and related taxes.
  • Essential and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Relevant professional certification(s) preferred.
  • Ability to build productive cross-functional, collaborative working relationships and team player.
  • Experience working in a paperless environment strongly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Understanding of basic business skills and standard office technology
  • General and growing knowledge of firm products and services in the practice area, and a general knowledge of products and services in other practice areas (tax and assurance)
