Position Overview:
The University of the Pacific, Department of Psychology, is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Senior Assistant or Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology. The anticipated start date for this role is August 2025.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education and possess a robust research agenda that actively involves undergraduate students. Preference will be given to those with expertise in child clinical psychology. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in clinical or counseling psychology.
The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses, including introductory psychology, research methods, and upper-division lab courses tailored to their area of specialization. Our faculty are dedicated educators, mentors, and advisors who employ innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning while also engaging in meaningful scholarship and service.
Tenure-track faculty in the Psychology department are expected to maintain a 2-2 semester course load, actively involve undergraduate students in research, sustain a vigorous research program, and contribute to the department and university community through service.
Qualified candidates will exhibit a commitment to diversity, possess experience teaching diverse populations, and demonstrate the ability to incorporate diversity into their curriculum.
The Department of Psychology comprises eight full-time faculty members who provide comprehensive coursework in both theoretical and research foundations of psychology, emphasizing student involvement in research and applied experiences. Psychology is one of the largest majors at the University, with nearly 200 undergraduate majors and minors.

Minimum Qualifications:A doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology or a closely related field by the anticipated start date, evidence of scholarly productivity, and experience teaching at the college level as the instructor of record.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience mentoring and supervising undergraduate students and research assistants
- A record of scholarship and teaching that indicates potential for independence and persistence
- Research focus on children and/or adolescents
- Prior experience in an assistant professor role or equivalent
- Experience and sensitivity in working with diverse backgrounds and cultures
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in an academic setting
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices in their work

Work Environment:The work schedule will be determined based on departmental needs.
Compensation:The hiring range for this position is $75,000 - $82,000, considering factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, candidate qualifications, internal equity, and market considerations.
