Production Specialist Job Description

Groundworks Industries is seeking a skilled Production Specialist to join our team in a commercial kitchen environment. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all products are manufactured in accordance with standard operating procedures and meet the company's quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manufacture cannabis edible confections and topicals, including chocolates, gumdrops, caramels, mints, drinks, cookies, fudge, and other health and beauty products.
  • Manage candy cooks, deposit product into molds, pop product out of molds, temper chocolate, mix and bake cookies, and perform other tasks as needed.
  • Support packaging and inventory management efforts, including stickering, boxing, and counting.
  • Partner with a team of cannabis confection professionals to complete the production plan, following scheduling and assignments, accomplishing work tasks, and following established priorities.
  • Follow all written work instructions, including product recipes and formulas, Standard Operating Procedures, checklists, and other instructions as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining the inventory of raw ingredients, work in process, and finished product.
Requirements:
  • Basic knowledge of food science.
  • Demonstrated ability to temper chocolate using a variety of methods and machines.
  • Understanding of inventory management systems.
  • Experience in fast-paced food manufacturing settings.
  • Motivation toward process improvement with an ability to be creative in streamlining process and flow systems.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage a large volume of detail-oriented tasks across multiple locations and teams.
  • Experience with beverage manufacturing.
  • Skills required to manage highly regulated inventory, including attention to detail and above-average organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to give and receive constructive feedback in an efficient, meaningful, and timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of experience working in a commercial kitchen environment or in food manufacturing using a variety of equipment such as kettles, depositors, and scales.
  • Cannabis industry or traditional confectionary experience.
  • Food manufacturing experience.
  • Familiarity with cannabis tracking systems and various operational technology platforms.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, and kneel daily in a variety of production environments that include concrete or other hard-surface floors and, in some instances, staircases.
  • Ability to push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds multiple times daily.
  • Ability to maintain focus and memory in environments with distractions such as heavy foot traffic, background noise due to public conversations, and the gathering of people.
  • Ability to work in occasionally hot or cold environments.
