Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Mayo Clinic. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting high-quality blood samples from patients of all ages using various phlebotomy methods. Your expertise will play a critical role in supporting our medical teams in providing accurate diagnoses and effective treatments.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients using venous, capillary, arterial, and line collections methods.
- Provide rapid response to medical emergencies, such as traumas and codes.
- Work independently and as part of a team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Interact with patients, nurses, providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Accurately identify patients, label, handle, and transport specimens.
- Assist with the training of students and new employees.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Experience working in a medical field preferred.
- Ability to push a cart and walk distances.
- Moderate to advanced computer skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adapt to changes in work volumes and projects.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Valid phlebotomy certification from an approved laboratory certification agency, such as the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Health Career Association (NHA), or the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT).
- Certificates from a technical college where the course was taken are not sufficient.
