Medical Assistant

NYU Langone Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Assist physicians and nurses with patient care tasks, including vital signs, weights, and EKGs.
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms and treatment areas.
- Obtain lab work and test reports, and ensure charts are available for physicians.
- Assist with procedures, such as GI procedures and medical exams.
- Ensure exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned and prepared for the next patient.
- Perform light housekeeping duties, including spills.
- Assist patients with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating, and maintaining comfort.
- Complete patient charges as per policy.
- Clean and sterilize designated equipment after use.
- Answer telephone in treatment area and assist staff with scheduling treatments.
- Assist patients and communicate with physicians to obtain prescription renewals.
- Stock exam rooms and treatment areas with medical supplies, linen, and chart forms.
- Assist with training new Medical Assistants.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of Medical Assistant program or 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred.
- Knowledge of EPIC Ambulatory preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
