BDO's Private Client Services is a specialized practice within our firm, offering a high-touch approach to serving high net worth individuals, their families, and other complex financial structures. Our team has extensive experience in estate, income, gift, and trust tax consulting and compliance, as well as charitable giving and philanthropic foundations, executive compensation, and cash-flow, retirement, and life insurance planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage tax and consulting engagements, identifying client needs, tax planning, and consulting opportunities.
  • Provide executive presence and serve as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolution to clients.
  • Review complex individual, trust, estate, S-Corp, foundation, partnership, and gift tax returns, providing written and verbal feedback to preparers.
  • Direct communication with government agencies for matters of the highest complexity.
  • Identify technical issues, conduct advanced tax research, and develop sound recommendations for PCS leadership, clients, and advisors.
  • Prioritize and review work to keep engagements on track.
  • Utilize strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills to assist with client needs regarding individual and business decisions.
  • Assist with PCS/firm contribution responsibilities, including billing, recruiting, attendance, and participation in CPE activities and training.
  • Build new relationships and maintain existing relationships with BDO professionals and external sources.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects.
  • Review work prepared by associates and senior associates, providing review comments.
  • Train associates and seniors on current software tools.
  • Act as a career advisor to associates and senior associates.
  • Schedule and manage workload of associates and senior associates.
  • Provide verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
  • Masters in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
  • Seven or more years of prior experience in accounting, finance, or law required.
  • Experience in the private client service area required.
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
  • Experience working in public accounting preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant credential, Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent credential, Attorney (admitted to practice in a jurisdiction), or equivalent required.
  • Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat required.
  • Experience with tax compliance process software and tax research tools preferred.

Salary Range:

New York City/Valhalla range: $140,000 - $200,000.
