The Patient Care Coordination Representative II plays a crucial role in managing the scheduling, financial processes, and communication for patients and referring healthcare providers. This position utilizes expertise in scheduling protocols to enhance patient flow and ensure optimal financial outcomes by effectively managing provider calendars for timely patient appointments. Following established physician guidelines, the representative assesses referral requests to determine appropriate appointment timing.
This role serves as the primary liaison in the scheduling process among the referring physician, the patient, and the attending provider, ensuring a seamless experience. The representative is also responsible for maintaining the financial integrity of the University of Florida Health by facilitating established financial procedures that support and expedite the billing and collection of professional services. Key responsibilities include:
- Applying coding and billing regulations
- Maximizing collections
- Verifying insurance coverage
- Obtaining necessary authorizations for services
- Reviewing patient account details
- Providing financial counseling to patients
Occasional flexibility to assist in other clinics may be required.
Job Opening Summary
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of two years of experience in financial and healthcare practice, preferably related to patient accounts and collections.
Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding is preferred.
A four-year degree may substitute for two years of financial or healthcare office experience. Knowledge of Epic systems is preferred.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential.
The successful candidate must be comfortable discussing payments and providing financial guidance to patients in a professional manner.
Ability to multitask, prioritize duties, resolve issues, and collaborate effectively within a team is vital for success in this role.
Minimum Pay Rate: Hourly: $14.70
Midpoint Pay Rate: Hourly: $18.15
