Key Responsibilities
  • Business Attraction and Retention: Identify and pursue new business opportunities, build relationships with business leaders, and provide support to existing businesses to help them grow and thrive.
  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with community stakeholders, including business improvement districts, enhanced municipal services districts, and convention and visitor bureaus, to promote economic development and growth.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities for economic development, and provide data-driven insights to inform business attraction and retention strategies.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Develop and implement marketing and promotional campaigns to attract new businesses and promote the City of Mesa as a desirable location for businesses.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Economic Development, Business, Public Administration, Marketing, Research, Analytics, Commercial Real Estate, International Business, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2 years of professional-level experience in economic development or a related area, with a strong understanding of business attraction and retention strategies.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with business leaders and community stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree: Master's degree in Economic Development, Business, Public Administration, Commercial Real Estate, International Business, or a related field.
  • Certified Economic Developer (CEcD): Designation as a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) is highly desirable.
  • Language Skills: Ability to speak a second language (other than English) is an asset.
