Job Summary

The Lead Teacher is a critical member of a team of educators who support the whole child through a developmentally appropriate curriculum that embraces Jewish life and complements what happens at home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and welfare of the children, maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Lead the teaching team in implementing a program that includes elements of the JCC Chicago's integrated secular and Jewish curriculum.
  • Provide and maintain an atmosphere that fosters emotional and cognitive growth, promoting a sense of community and belonging.
  • Establish and maintain good communication with directors, staff, and parents, making families feel welcome and valued.
  • Foster a collaborative, team-focused atmosphere, both in the classroom and agency-wide.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing development opportunities, staying up-to-date on best practices in Early Childhood Education.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain relationships with families, including regular communication and updates on their child's progress.
  • Lead the creation of educational materials, such as newsletters and portfolios, to keep families informed and engaged.
  • Take initiative in maintaining a dynamic and engaging classroom environment, adapting to the needs of the children and the program.
  • Collaborate with the Social Services department to ensure the well-being and safety of all children.
Requirements
  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, Elementary Education, or Early Childhood Special Education.
  • At least 20 years of age.
  • A love for children and a passion for helping them reach their full potential.
  • Ability to build relationships with families and coworkers, creating a dynamic environment that encourages children's curiosity and growth.
