Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans that promote academic readiness, social-emotional development, and physical health and safety.
  • Collaborate with the classroom team to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that values diversity and promotes positive relationships.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and families to ensure their involvement and support in their child's education.
  • Ensure compliance with DCFS, ExceleRate Illinois, NAEYC, and YMCA standards and policies.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and stay up-to-date with best practices in early childhood education.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  • Gateways credentialing or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment.
  • Passion for serving the needs of children and families, with a commitment to the YMCA's mission.
  • Proven knowledge and ability to implement developmentally appropriate practices to promote early learning and social-emotional development.
  • One year of experience teaching or equivalent in a preschool classroom, with a preference for experience with the Creative Curriculum.
Child Abuse Prevention:
  • Report any health or safety hazards to your supervisor.
  • Follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs.
  • Report any suspicious behavior or policy violations to your supervisor.
  • Complete all child abuse prevention training as required.
