Position Summary

Role Responsibilities:
  • Designs, promotes, and sustains a variety of volunteer roles within the organization.
  • Regularly assesses the needs for volunteer support through staff surveys and gathers client preferences for activities.
  • Oversees the volunteer recruitment process in collaboration with Human Resources, including interviewing and placement.
  • Facilitates volunteer integration within various programs and assists supervisors in managing volunteer activities.
  • Organizes and provides training sessions for volunteers in partnership with the Human Resources team.
  • Creates and maintains detailed descriptions for various volunteer roles.
  • Keeps accurate records and generates timely reports on volunteer engagement.
  • Builds relationships and presents to local organizations, schools, and businesses to cultivate a network of volunteers and resources.
  • Coordinates site tours related to volunteer and veteran programs.
  • Ensures all materials and presentations reflect the organization's mission and values.
  • Manages records of in-kind donations and expresses gratitude to donors and volunteers.
  • Assists the Development & Communications Manager and Executive Director in planning fundraising events.
  • Maintains a current calendar of activities for veterans and volunteers.
  • Supports veterans in achieving their personal and social goals through engaging activities.
  • Plans and leads various therapeutic and recreational events for veterans, including fitness, arts, and community outings.
  • Coordinates transportation for volunteer and veteran activities.
  • Tracks participation metrics to evaluate the success of activities and grant-related outcomes.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred; a minimum of two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirements.
  • At least one year of experience in managing volunteer programs.
  • Experience working with veterans or homeless populations is advantageous.
  • Ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of clients and community members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the needs of veterans, including evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex interactions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • A valid driver's license is required, along with compliance with company insurance standards.
  • Willingness to adapt to varying shift schedules based on program needs.
