Position Overview:

As an integral part of the nursing team and under the guidance of a Professional Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse delivers essential nursing support to patients within a designated unit. This role encompasses a variety of patient care tasks and supportive services tailored to the needs of assigned patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Administer nursing care to patients as designated.
  2. Dispense and document medications and treatments as instructed.
  3. Prepare for and assist healthcare professionals with diagnostic procedures and treatments.
  4. Provide reinforcement and health care instructions to patients and their families.
  5. Collaborate with team members in planning, executing, and assessing nursing care and patient activities.
  6. Support the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
  7. Monitor and report on patients' vital signs, symptoms, and overall condition to the appropriate personnel.
  8. Document observations regarding patients' responses to nursing care in their charts.
  9. Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
  10. Assist with unit management and may assume charge of the unit as required.
  11. Perform additional nursing functions related to patient care as delegated by Nursing Service Administration.
  12. Guide and mentor other Licensed Practical Nurses, Technicians, and Nurse's Aides in delivering patient care.
  13. Maintain clinical proficiency through ongoing education and training.
Minimum Qualifications:

Must hold a valid license or authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New York.
