Job Summary
Description:

Cocoon House is seeking an experienced Facilities Technician to join our Operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our facilities, including regular building maintenance, oversight, and planning. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with effective communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and equipment repairs.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously. They will also be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, adhering to OSHA requirements, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the overall cleanliness and organization of common spaces, including offices, break rooms, and restrooms.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including painting, carpentry, and masonry work.
  • Assess and prioritize property maintenance needs, including groundskeeping and landscaping.
  • Develop and implement maintenance best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with operations and leadership teams, and collaborate on long-term solution recommendations.
  • Manage vendor relationships, including annual certification scheduling.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, including proper storage of chemicals, tools, and equipment.
  • Oversee facility improvement projects, including volunteer groups in collaboration with the Volunteer Manager.
  • Order and inventory facility supplies.
  • Perform minor electrical and plumbing maintenance, including replacement or repair of fixtures and appliances.

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in general building and grounds maintenance, including basic plumbing, HVAC, and electrical knowledge.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Clear a background check with DCYF.
  • Possess a valid Washington State driver's license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Experience working in organizations experiencing rapid growth and expansion a plus.
  • Ability to use common tools, including hammers, drills, and diagnostic meters.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of OSHA requirements.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to effectively communicate with all internal and external clients.
  • Be able to hear voices and alarms.
  • Ability to read and comprehend a variety of materials.
  • Ability to operate phone, computer, and record information for files and logs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to travel for various distances through urban or rural environments in various weather conditions.
  • Must have ability to run up and down indoor and outdoor stairwells in case of youth emergency.

Compensation

  • Hourly Wage: $23-$25
