Job Title: Pre-K Aide - Grant Funded Position

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Pre-K Aide - Grant Funded Position. The successful candidate will assist the Pre-K teacher in achieving identified instructional/behavioral objectives and help students take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials.

Responsibilities:
• Assist early childhood students individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present and/or reinforce learning concepts.
• Work with small groups of students to reinforce learning initially introduced by the teacher.
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and corrective instruction directed by the teacher.
• Discern stages of child development/age-appropriate activities.
• Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials for classroom use.
• Monitor individual students, classrooms, library, playground activities, etc., to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
• Help with extra duties related to the supervision of students (lunch periods, bus duties, assemblies, field trips, etc.).

Requirements:
• Two (2) years of college-level education; Valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate preferred.
• An earned Child Development Associate credential (CDA) or at least nine (9) credit hours of coursework in Early Childhood Education and Child Development.
• Prior experience working with early childhood students preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of academic and behavioral strategies and techniques to assist students in learning.
• Physically able to participate in restraint training and participate in restraint of a student, if needed.
• Physically able to carry out tasks requiring moderate physical exertion.
• Ability to use current technology.
• Effective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groups.
• Ability to work as a member of a team.
• Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner.
• Ability to meet suitability criteria under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No.
