Education Assistant

As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with exceptional needs in a dynamic and inclusive learning environment. Working under the supervision of a certified teacher, you will assist in maintaining behavioral control, implementing behavior plans, and reinforcing learning for students with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the teacher in preparing instructional materials and implementing classroom instruction
• Work with small groups of students to reinforce learning and provide individualized support
• Guide independent study, enrichment work, and corrective instruction as directed by the teacher
• Assist with feeding, positioning, lifting, or moving students as needed
• Participate in restraint training and assist with the supervision of students in special class activities
Requirements:
• Two years of college-level education; valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate preferred
• Prior experience working with students with disabilities preferred
• Knowledge and understanding of academic and behavioral strategies and techniques to assist students in learning
• Ability to work as a member of a team and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people and groups
