Division OverviewCrown's Food Division is the world's leading manufacturer of food cans. Our comprehensive range of food packaging serves various markets, including fruit, vegetables, dairy, fish, meat, ready meals, pet food, infant milk powder, and other dry food products. Job OverviewThe Plant Accountant is responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, including month-end processes, preparing financial reports, reconciliations, payroll, sales commissions, and accounts payable. This role reports directly to the Plant Manager and requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries and account documentation.
- Prepare General Ledger Account and Bank Reconciliation.
- Prepare financial statements and other reports to summarize the company's financial position, including month-end reporting, 8th-day reporting, gainshare analysis, and site communication meeting information.
- Maintain the Accounting Policy database.
- Identify control gaps, develop, and implement appropriate control procedures to resolve control deficiencies.
- Assist in preparation for internal and external audits.
- Develop financial analysis and cost accounting skills.
- Responsible for execution and coordination of physical inventory.
- Performance Management for any direct reports.
- Oversee payroll and AP functions.
- Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Solid understanding of accounting concepts and GAAP.
- Proven track record of working in a team environment with various departments.
- Experience working with an ERP system.
- Three (3) years of Plant Manufacturing experience.
- Strong PC skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Self-directed, with excellent initiative and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, drive, and energy.
- Position requires someone who is self-motivated, analytical, and has excellent communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work with little supervision.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, ensuring completion.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The associate may lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Generally works in an office setting but will be required to perform some job duties inside a plant environment.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic.
- The associate may be exposed to a wide range of temperatures.
- The noise level is frequently loud.
- Approximately 10% overnight travel.
- May occasionally need to work evening or weekend hours.
