As a Senior Software Engineering Leader, you will be responsible for the architecture, design, and development of high-performance backend services for the Vehicle Domain – VCS, both on-premises and in cloud environments. This role offers a unique opportunity to collaborate across various teams to formulate technical strategies and solutions that align with enterprise program requirements, modernizing legacy systems, and shaping the future of VCS architecture, services, and APIs to enhance customer experiences.

Your role will also involve serving as a technical authority, leading the development of complex, large-scale services that satisfy both local and global business demands. You will actively seek collaboration opportunities with external teams and technical specialists to improve our technical solutions as we advance our modernization strategy. The Senior Software Engineering Leader should appreciate the significance of elegant and maintainable software design, as well as the necessity of creating impactful solutions. Additionally, this position will involve mentoring a team of skilled software engineers, instilling best practices in software development, and ensuring the delivery of robust solutions that adhere to the highest standards for seamless production operations. Key Responsibilities

  • Take initiative in understanding business strategies and objectives, designing technical solutions for new requirements.
  • Engage with stakeholders and technical leaders across the organization to define architecture and develop resilient technical solutions.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for VCS microservices, collaborating with other experts to make strategic decisions based on business and technical needs.
  • Analyze existing technology setups and propose enhancements to achieve superior performance through modern technologies. Provide technical guidance in designing, building, and deploying scalable VCS microservices.
  • Evaluate complex, high-impact problems and devise optimal solutions that not only address current issues but also prevent recurrence.
  • Promote software development best practices, including high-quality code, automated testing, thorough documentation, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop code as necessary, working independently or with the engineering team to create new services or enhance existing ones.
  • Engage proactively with the engineering team, guiding them in the implementation of services with a focus on quality.
  • Mentor and coach software engineers, assisting them in advancing their careers.
  • Maintain transparent and effective communication with the engineering team and stakeholders to achieve optimal results.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Over 8 years of experience in software engineering and development, utilizing industry-standard design patterns in languages such as Java, including object-oriented principles.
  • Proven experience in technical leadership, guiding software engineers in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to resolve issues swiftly.
  • Extensive experience in delivering Java/JEE business solutions through the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructures (PCF/OCF, Azure, etc.) and the development of microservices using CI/CD methodologies with Spring and Spring Boot.
  • Proficient in test-driven development techniques (TDD, Junit, mocks).
  • Experience with various interface patterns, including RESTful APIs and event-based messaging.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps (ADO), GitHub, Artifactory, and similar tools, along with Unix/Linux shell scripting experience.
  • Experience with databases such as Oracle, Postgres, NoSQL (Yugabyte, Cassandra, Cosmos), and competency in SQL development.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies, including Hadoop, Hive, Scala, Databricks, and Kafka.
  • Experience with the ELK stack and dashboarding tools like Kibana, Grafana, and App Insights for production support.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey feedback, needs, and solutions.
  • Strong teamwork orientation and the ability to foster collaboration within and across teams.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with industry trends and technologies.

Preferred:

  • Experience in leading and developing technical architecture and end-to-end solutions, including flow diagrams and technical designs for large programs.
  • Experience in migrating services from one platform to another (e.g., WL VM to cloud-based solutions).
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables to maximize business value within time and resource constraints.
  • Capability to mentor and influence other engineers, fostering independence and a commitment to quality software development.
  • Experience in delegating tasks effectively to optimize outcomes with reasonable effort.

  • Base Salary: The anticipated base salary for this role ranges from $116,100 to $181,600, with actual compensation varying based on specific position factors.
